I don’t think you get to good writing unless you expose yourself and your feelings. Deep songs don’t come from the surface; they come from the deep down. The poetry and the songs that you are supposed to write, I believe are in your heart. ~ Judy Collins
Music has always meant so much to me. When I was pregnant with Jonah, I put headphones on my belly and played Mozart and Paul Simon and the The Beatles (I hadn’t discovered Guster yet) and all kinds of music, playing to him, speaking to him. As soon as he was born I played music to him every day, and to put him to sleep at night. He still cannot speak in anything but short phrases but he can sing entire songs.
Here he is, age 7, singing a Guster song called “Keep it Together.”
Now he demands Guster’s new album (Watch video #6!!!) when we’re in the car, requesting it by asking for Cranberry Guster, as I’ve said before. I wonder why it’s Cranberry Guster to him. My boy is such a wonder.
I have lots more to say, but only a moment more to type. Guster is coming to town tonight and of course I am going – I’m so excited I wrote them an e-mail and also tweeted to them, inviting them to lunch.
Boy, am I a geek or what?! (rhetorical question)
Guster’s songs have ‘kept me together,’ and for that I am more thankful than they will ever know.
Hi Amy, Great that you tweeted Guster. Hop they take you up on the invitation but I am sure they’d be delighted to know how much they have helped you and Jonah with their music. That video of Jonah remains one of my favourites. It gives a peek into his world I think, the way he moves, the way he watches himself, the way he sings – just beautiful. One to keep and to remember.
Have a great evening! 🙂

Is it me, or is there a post missing? Well I know there is a post missing because it’s sitting in my inbox but not here. I’d been waiting til this morning to comment.
Yes, you’d probbaly be censored to an extent. I think so many people could benefit from your blog there, but I also think you’ll open yourself up to more scrutiny and criticsm. From those that don’t agree with the plan you have laid out. You’d have to be sure you were ready for that aspect too.
No matter, I’ll read wherever you are.
Enjoy the show!

I had taken the post down. It was my first post and I needed to take it down so it wouldn’t be material considered “published” for a contest I’d entered. Now that I didn’t win the contest, I put it back up.
P.S. I had contacted Michael Huber several times to ask to have a blog at the TU site and he never got back to me.
