Some people I never see on my blog commented on that last entry, which was weird. Then I talked to my friend K later in the day, and she told me it’s all posted over on Facebook. I haven’t had an account there since December 31, 2015, so how is that possible? I went over to check it out and sure enough, my page was re-activated, even though I didn’t do it. I thought at first it was an auto-post because I’d published a new blog entry, but none of my other blog posts made it over there.
Did the ghost of FB re-open my account? Was my account hacked? At any rate, I logged in and DE-activated it again.
It probably looks like I went over there to throw a big bitch-fest and leave. So be it. Whatever. If anyone knows what might have happened, please let me know so it won’t happen again. I don’t see myself coming back.
Thanks to everyone who commented on my last post, and for everyone who cares. Jonah is moving to a new residence, maybe today. They have been slowly acclimating him to the new place and I hope he does okay. One of his favorite peeps at Anderson is the residence manager.
Fingers crossed.
JUST as I typed that, the new CSE Chairperson at the Albany City School District called me to say Kennedy Krieger is not an option because they are no longer approved by the state, even as an emergency inpatient on a short-term basis. Then she starts rattling off a list of other schools – most of which I haven’t even heard of – to which referrals have been sent, she says, back in August. She is going to e-mail me the details and other people I can contact, but she’s so new she has no idea why we weren’t notified of these referrals. It was difficult to stay calm on the phone. I’m angry that Jonah isn’t even able to be considered for KKI and we definitely don’t want him sent to another school that will be a lateral move, at best.
Can we just pay for KK ourselves? I have no idea, or how much it would cost, and I’d better get back on the phone to find out as much as I can.
What the hell?!
I am so, so sorry. I wish I had unlimited sources to send him to KKI for you. 😭 Continuing to pray, love and admire you so much! 💔💔

I’m sorry that NYS cannot pay for Jonah to be evaluated at Kennedy Krieger. And I hope with all my heart that his move to a new residence at Anderson helps him.

KKI is paid for by medicaid, not by Board of Ed.
As for your FB, I thought you had reactivated your acct bc we invited you back to the Extreme Parenting group. I even tagged you a few times in that group. You didnt come back to FB? You really should!

Thanks Mindy. But why not just tell me that going through Medicaid is the protocol? My guess is they won’t hold Jonah’s bed if he were to go to KKI. And I am very very suspicious of any kind of strict ABA – in my opinion it’s borderline abusive if used improperly. To be honest I did not want to do a ton of research into the program before we even know if it’s a possibility. My head is spinning right now. I don’t, however, think Anderson will turn your son down without giving it a try first. Jonah was sent there initially b/c he was kicked out of his special ed school here in the Capital District for behaviors like these, too. Good luck tomorrow – I praying and hoping it works out.

If I come back to FB it will likely be just for the Extreme Parenting Group, and under a different name. FB became hell for me and I do not want that experience again.

Mindy, I’m told that it IS the school district that would pay for any out-of-state school placement. But it has to be an out-of-state school that is approved by the state, and KKI is not.

Btw though Kennedy Krieger is not the panacea be-all-end-all. There’s a rigorous 6 week screening process, then you have to go down to see the place, then you might went 6-12 months just to get in, and their super rigid ABA protocol is very rough. They also expect parental involvement and that his categivers at his school follow through with their program. Hopefully Anderson will be okay with everything very soon, and the move to the new house will be a good thing.
You’re really scaring me though bc we’re going down to Anderson tomorrow for our screening, and our son isnt very different from Jonah, so I’m terrified they shouldnt turn him down!
Can you tell me which schools the CSE recommended?
So far, Jonah hasnt been kicked out. Which is awesome :).

They are supposed to e-mail me a list of the schools — I don’t have them yet. I know Devereux was mentioned, and Green Castle.
